Dell Technologies empowers customers' multicloud experiences and delivers greater cyber resilience, energy efficiency and automation with software-driven innovations across its industry-leading storage portfolio. Dell's commitment to software development has enabled it to develop more than 2 storage portfolios in every category of the external storage industry in the past twelve months. These enhancements are available free to existing customers and are available as-a-Service via on-premises software or Dell APEX.

Jeff Boudreau, President and General Manager of Dell Technologies Infrastructure Solutions Group, said: “As data continues to grow and skilled IT staff is harder to find, companies are forced to do more with less. “We are helping our customers meet this challenge by enabling them to get the most out of their IT investments with storage software innovations that are more energy efficient, increase productivity and strengthen cyber resilience.”

Built to meet the toughest security requirements in all industries

PowerStore, Dell's intelligent all-flash storage solution, provides greater security to help today's leading enterprises adopt a Zero Trust model. Zero Trust is defined as a cybersecurity framework that automates an organization's security architecture and responds as soon as systems are attacked.

With PowerStore's new security software enhancements, Dell is helping accelerate the adoption of Zero Trust so customers can protect, prevent and respond to cyberattacks. The scope of the new developments are as follows;

STIG hardening package: The Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) meet the most stringent configuration standards defined by the US federal government and the US Department of Defense. The STIG hardening package increases the PowerStore's compliance with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework standard required for US federal networks and other government agencies worldwide.

Secure and immutable snapshots: Prevents snapshots from being deleted or modified without authorization before they expire.

Streamlined file permissions: Allows storage administrators to manage access directly from the PowerStore to quickly respond to security threats.

Increased file durability: Up to 4x more snapshots per system, giving users more protection points to be able to recover piecemeal when needed.

Multi-factor authentication: Protects access to PowerStore by ensuring user authentication.

Dell helps customers reduce costs while increasing productivity

New PowerStore software automation and multi-cloud enhancements help customers get the most out of their existing IT investments while reducing operational and energy costs. The new PowerStore features are also detailed as follows:

Dell PowerProtect native integration: Organizations have many conveniences and options for multi-cloud data protection strategies with the integration of PowerStore into Dell's physical and software-defined data protection solutions. Backups and restores can be configured in less than two minutes directly from the PowerStore user interface, allowing customers to take advantage of feature-packed PowerProtect devices such as up to 65:1 data reduction and DD Boost technology. The solution also enables cost-effective cloud archiving. This helps reduce power and cooling costs by reducing in-house capacity requirements.

DevOps workflow enhancements: New integrations with Ansible and Terraform, and new mobility capabilities gained with Dell Container Storage Modules are helping PowerStore customers accelerate their innovation with flexible storage automation. PowerStore supports these open source solutions, giving DevOps people easy-to-use storage automation tools and the ability to create repeatable, automated processes across a variety of environments to store storage without the need for coding or a support desk.

With its new ENERGY STAR certification, the PowerStore is up to 60 percent more energy efficient, delivering significant increases in both density and performance per watt. This makes the PowerStore Dell's most efficient storage system to date. With this development, Dell is addressing the growing need for energy efficiency and sustainability, which a recent IDC study found to be one of the most important criteria for IT purchasing decisions.

Dell ramps up software-driven storage innovation

In addition to PowerStore, new software innovations are driving many enhancements to the Dell Storage portfolio:

Dell PowerMax, the world's most secure and mission-critical storage solution, strengthens cybersecurity with a secure local connection to enable customers to quickly recover compromised production data after a cyberattack.

Dell's software-defined infrastructure, Dell PowerFlex, accelerates modernization with advanced NVMe/TCP and security.

Dell ObjectScale, Dell's software-defined object storage platform, delivers faster enterprise S3 object storage performance with an easier deployment and support experience.

Dell's AIOps software Dell CloudIQ extends AI/ML-driven performance and capacity analytics and VMware integration to simplify and accelerate IT and DevOps.

Dell Unity XT, Dell's flexible hybrid storage platform, increases support for Ansible to enhance storage automation, helping customers lower costs, reduce errors and increase productivity.

Dell PowerStore and ObjectScale enhancements will be available worldwide in June 2023, and Dell PowerMax, CloudIQ and Unity XT capabilities will be available worldwide as of today. In addition, Dell PowerFlex enhancements will be available worldwide in the third quarter of 2023.
