General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, Kemeraltı Tradesmen Association President Semih Girgin, Konak District Headman Tamer Yıldırım, bureaucrats and tradesmen representatives attended the meeting where the latest situation regarding the works in the historical bazaar was discussed. Within the scope of Kemeraltı renovation project, a presentation was made on infrastructure and coating works. Solution suggestions for preventing large vehicles from entering the streets, avenues and roads where the metropolitan teams completed the work, meeting the transportation needs of the tradesmen with battery powered vehicles and parking lot problems were discussed.
Kemeraltı constitution will be prepared
Stating that a legislation should be prepared for Kemeraltı, the President Tunç Soyer, “Kemeraltı constitution… Our headman, our association, Konak Municipality, Metropolitan Municipality will prepare a Kemeraltı legislation. It will be a constitution. How much is taken to the streets, how much is not carried, what is the color of the awning, what is the opening time, what is the closing time, what are the principles to be followed in neighbor relations, what are the obligations to the association... Let's set a time for this, by discussing, talking, polling if necessary. Let's get a law. Let's pass this legislation through both Konak Municipality and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality councils. Let's discuss the rules and principles that will be followed after us. The place where we will give the main burden is our association. None of us knows the grievances, longings and expectations of the tradesmen as much as they do. A legislation based on common sense as much as possible by listening to them, inclusive, inclusive, anticipating objections, listening and producing solutions. No matter what we call it, but its essence must be a constitution, the Kemeraltı constitution," he said.
Education will be required to obtain a license
At the meeting, the requirement of obtaining a training certificate from the Kemeraltı Tradesmen Association for the licenses to be issued in the new period came to the agenda. Expressing that the Kemeraltı legislation issue should be moved to the Konak Municipality council meeting in December and to the Metropolitan Municipality council session in January, Mayor Soyer said, “This legislation should be cooked very well, it should be done with a common mind and there should be no going back. This work will be a prerequisite for the license, we will have created the regulation,” he said.

Kemeraltı Artisans Association President Semih Girgin thanked the Metropolitan teams for their work and said, “We live with them night and morning and we are very pleased with that. Mr. President, you are taking risks and I am grateful for that. No one has ever shown this courage," he said.
What was done within the scope of Kemeraltı arrangement works?

Work continues for the UNESCO World Heritage 2023 candidacy of the Historic Port City of Izmir, which also includes Kemeraltı. Restoration works in Kemeraltı and Basmane were accelerated.
