Thanks to the works carried out in the region where Bostanlı Stream meets the Gulf, it is aimed to accelerate the cleaning process of the Gulf and to prevent floods and overflows by providing hydraulic flow of water in heavy rains.

In order to prevent the negative physical changes in the water quality of the inner gulf by affecting the current regime of the Gulf and to eliminate the odor complaints due to shallowing, the second phase of the dredging works carried out at the mouths of the Cheesecioğlu, Bornova and Bostanlı creeks was started. İZSU teams made significant progress in dredging activities in Bostanlı Creek. So far, 28 m³ of dredging has been carried out at the mouth of the Bostanlı Stream.

İZSU General Directorate has also implemented the “Evaluation of the Physical, Chemical and Biological Effects and Results of Dredging Activities to be Performed in İzmir Bay in the Marine Environment of İzmir Bay” with Ege University Faculty of Fisheries in order to monitor the effects of dredging activities on the marine environment. With the project in question, the effects of dredging activities on the Izmir Bay are monitored.

Environment, Urban Planning and Climate Change Provincial Director Ömer Albayrak and İZSU General Manager Ali Hıdır Köseoğlu supervised the dredging activities in Bostanlı and exchanged information about the solutions to the odor problem arising from the chemical production factories in Çiğli AOSB.
