Barış Yarkadaş was born on August 2, 1974, is a Turkish journalist, politician and writer. He was elected as the Istanbul MP ​​of the Republican People's Party in the June 2015 and November 2015 Turkish general elections.

He was born on August 2, 1974, in the Susuz district of Kars, as the son of Zülfiye and Rasim Yarkadaş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kars. He settled in Üsküdar district of Istanbul with his family in 1988. He completed his high school education at Sultanahmet Printing Vocational High School. After graduating from Marmara University, Faculty of Technical Education, Department of Printing Education, he completed his second undergraduate education at Anadolu University, Faculty of Economics, Department of Public Administration.

He took a professional step into journalism during his university years. He worked in Yeni Doğu, Güneş, Yeni İstanbul, Halkın Power, Radyo Yenigün and KMP Anadolu TV. He took part in the establishment process of TV 8. He served as the Istanbul Branch President of the Contemporary Journalists Association, which has approximately two thousand members, and was elected as president twice. He worked in many broadcasting institutions, especially Star and Hürriyet Newspapers, and also made programs on M1 TV, Dem TV, Kent TV, Cem TV, Kent Radio, Yön Radio and Box Radio. He founded the website Gerçek Gündem in 2006. He started working at Halk TV in 2011.

He entered the parliament as the 7th and 1th term Istanbul Deputy in the 2015 Turkish general elections held on 25 June and 26 November. He was not nominated by his party in the 2018 elections. He supported the requests from Muharrem İnce and his supporters to hold an extraordinary congress in the CHP after the election.

He completed his military service in Van. He is a member of the Turkish Journalists Association. He received awards from the Contemporary Journalists Association and the Economic Journalists Association.
