Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway will open in the second half of 2015: Azerbaijan Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov stated that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) Railway will start operating in the second half of 2015.
In Baku, BTK Railway Project Azerbaijan and Georgia Bilateral Coordination Council meeting was held.
Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Memmedov, Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Georgi Kvirikashvili and officials from both countries attended the meeting.
Ziya Memmedov, who answered the questions of the press after the meeting, said that they discussed the issues related to the realization of the project and the budget of this year.
Mammadov stated that the project continues as planned, "2014 will perform tests at the end of the route up to the border with Turkey. In the second half of 2015, the railway will be fully operational. studies in Turkey's party continues at full speed. Our biggest problem was connected with the construction of the 400-meter tunnel on the border with Turkey and Georgia. Work continues there as well and most of the work has been completed. Tunnel construction will be completed by the summer of 2015 ”.

Georgian Minister Kvirikashvili also stated that the BTK railway project will start operating in 2015, emphasizing that the land expropriation issues on the route have also been resolved and that the works continue as planned.
