MAN eTruck, with its exciting appearance, won the '43 Red Dot Design Award' by impressing the international jury of the Red Dot Design Award, which consists of 2023 internationally recognized and independent experts in design quality.
Regarding the new MAN eTruck, which will start to reach the first customers as of 2024, the jury especially; In addition to already coming to the fore with an extraordinary product design in zero-carbon road transport; It is agreed that the future-proof electric lion suitable for long-distance transport is already making a strong mark on the market even before its official market launch. MAN eTruck received its award at a special ceremony held in Essen on 19 June with participation from more than 60 countries.
MAN's new big eTruck series received the Red Dot Design Award 2023 in the “Product Design” category with its exciting appearance.
In the competition, the quality and details of the polygonal exterior trim of the MAN eTruck, inspired by the panorama of the Bavarian Alps, convinced the jury.
The exterior design of the MAN eTruck, which adheres to tradition and innovation; showcased the combination of tradition and innovation.
Friedrich Baumann, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Customer Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus, said: “This coveted design award for our new eTruck, which will electrify long-distance transport from 2024, gives our team extra strength from the final phase of the project to market launch. “The new MAN eTruck is a powerful expression of our customers' transition to electromobility, not only technically but also visually.”
Red Dot founder and CEO Dr. Peter Zec also said at the award ceremony, “Companies and design studios from around the world; During the competition, it was faced with the professional evaluations of the Red Dot jury, which consists of international experts who examined a significant number of products. The fact that you emerged as a winner from such a strong exhibitor is proof of the exceptional quality of your product.”
Approximately 20.000 products are presented to the Red Dot Design competition every year, and this year, evaluations were made in 60 competition categories from 51 countries.
Carolin Schütt, responsible for color and material design in the MAN Truck & Bus Design Department, said:
“In an age of rapidly changing world and new technologies, it is important to stay accurate and authentic. Following this motto in our MAN eTruck design works, we focused on our DNA and origins. where do we come from What does our brand represent? How do our customers perceive us? Together with many of our colleagues from other departments, we included the answers to these questions in the design development process of MAN eTruck.”
For the design of the MAN eTruck, which adheres to tradition and innovation; The design experts at MAN Truck & Bus abstracted the landscape from the MAN Headquarters and visualized the foothills of the mountain between Zugspitze and Munich in a polygonal pattern that adorns the driver's cabin. The geometrically ornamented surface has been likened to a sculptor's work in progress. For this reason, the design also had strong symbolic power for the development dynamics of the MAN eTruck.
The neutral, matte gray paintwork has been specially selected against the 'high-voltage' red in the radiator grille and harmonizes with the overall concept with the indirectly lit windscreen. As a result of all these details, an impressive impression emerged that makes the vehicle feel like it is breathing the energy that powers it. This unique combination also managed to convince the Red Dot Award 2023 jury and received the award.
