The launch ceremony of CMG's "Expert Committee on South China Sea Research" and "South China Sea Perception Report in Southeast Asia" jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG), China South China Sea Research Institute (CSRI) and Huayang Marine Research Center was held at CMG's representative office in Sanya.
CMG Chairman Shen Haixiong and CPC Central Committee Deputy Director of the External Liaison Department Sun Haiyan attended the ceremony via video conference.
Shen Haixiong, who is also the deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, recalled that President Xi Jinping pointed out that "we should all work together to maintain the stability of the South China Sea and make it a sea of peace, friendship and cooperation."
Shen said that the establishment of the CMG's "Expert Committee on South China Sea Studies" aims to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea and actively support the sustainable development of the region.
Sun Haiyan also noted in his speech that many Southeast Asian countries have stated that the South China Sea is the common home of the countries in the region and has riches for every country and every person. Sun emphasized that he believes that CMG's platform can combine expert opinions with competent broadcasting, so that the situation in the South China Sea can be explained objectively, comprehensively and pragmatically.
