Yerlikaya: Nearly Half a Million Drivers Fined in 7 Days

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 12 million 19 thousand 3 vehicles were inspected by the police and gendarmerie traffic teams between June 583-555, and action was taken against 468 thousand 539 drivers.

Minister of Internal Affairs Yerlikaya announced that 1 vehicles/drivers were subject to action during air traffic inspections conducted by traffic teams using helicopters and drones between January 19 and June 85.

Stating that they effectively use aircraft such as helicopters and drones in traffic inspections on routes where traffic density and accident risk increase in order to prevent traffic violations on urban and intercity highways, Yerlikaya noted the following:

“12 million 19 thousand 3 vehicles were inspected by our security and gendarmerie traffic teams between June 583-555. 23 drivers were prosecuted for using devices with light or audible warning signs (flashing) by attaching them to vehicles that are not permitted by law. Along with other prosecutions, 99 thousand 132 speeding violations, 30 thousand 87 without periodic inspections, 25 thousand 270 not using seat belts, 16 thousand 499 driving vehicles without a driver’s license and 7 thousand 961 without compulsory financial liability insurance; a total of 468 thousand 539 vehicles/drivers were prosecuted.”

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that they continue to carry out inspections with both police and gendarmerie teams and helicopter and drone systems from the air to ensure traffic safety, and said, "Journeys are there to reunite you with your loved ones, not to separate you."
