Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge Documents Green Energy

Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which is a world example in the transportation infrastructure management sector with its environmentally friendly character from construction to operation, has added a new one to its privileges. The annual electricity consumption of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which continues its activities within the IC Infrastructure Group, has been documented with the I-REC certificate, as it is produced entirely from green energy with an annual consumption of 2303 MWh.

Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge has earned the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate (International Renewable Energy Certificate) with its use of alternative energy. The certificate, obtained through Trakya Elektrik Perakende Satış A.Ş. (TREPAŞ), documents that the annual electricity consumption of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, 2303 MWh, is from alternative energy.

The I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate is carried by a respected international reference, which documents how much of the person's electrical energy consumption is obtained from the energy sources they replace. The I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate, which is given to corporate companies that meet the conditions for the assessment of renewable energy usage conditions, aims to ensure sustainability in the energy sector and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions. Thanks to this green energy consumption, the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge reduces the annual CO₂ emission of 1.024,84 tons. This amount is equivalent to the carbon sequestration composition of approximately 22 trees, which absorb an average of 46.584 kg of CO₂ per year.

Yavuz Sultan Selim and Northern Peripheral Motorway Operation General Manager Alper Akar said the following in his relevant recommendation: “Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which is among the world's leading bridges with its aesthetics, technology and engineering features, stands out with its environmental friendliness in all activities related to the construction operation. As it is, we continue to guide the transportation operations in the world with our steps in the field of sustainability.”
