
Continuing its efforts to make Bursa a more resilient city, the Metropolitan Municipality carried out a technical inspection visit to the Seismic Isolator Test Center, which is located within Eskişehir Technical University and is the first of its kind in Türkiye.
In Bursa, which is located in a first-degree earthquake zone, the Metropolitan Municipality, which is conducting the ‘Earthquake Risk Reduction and Prevention Planning Project’ together with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is also examining other studies in Türkiye on-site and exchanging information. A delegation consisting of Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Mehmet Tözün Bingöl as the chairman; Urban Transformation Department Head Tahir Yılmazeli, Transportation Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Kütükçü, Technical Services Department Head Hatice Esra Çetintaş, branch managers and technical personnel paid a technical inspection visit to the Seismic Isolator Test Center within Eskişehir Technical University. During the visit to the test center, which is the fifth in the world and the first in Türkiye, information was given about the studies carried out under the leadership of İnanç Onur and Prof. Dr. Ali Bozer.
Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality Mehmet Tözün Bingöl said that many different projects were carried out on the subject of earthquakes under the leadership of Mayor Mustafa Bozbey. Stating that they aimed to increase the quality of life in Bursa and to create a smart, resilient and sustainable city, Bingöl expressed that they attach importance to local, national and international collaborations. In this context, Bingöl stated that they visited the Seismic Isolator Test Center within Eskişehir Technical University and received information about the studies, and stated that the information obtained here will contribute to the studies carried out with the goal of a resilient Bursa.
