Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ)'s airline aircraft, passenger and cargo data for May 2025. Noting that the number of aircraft landing and taking off at passenger and environmentally friendly airports was 85 on domestic lines and 368 on international lines, Uraoğlu said, “Thus, total aircraft traffic reached 82, including overflights. Compared to the same month in 587, there was a 215 percent increase in total aircraft traffic, including overflights.”
21 Million 170 Thousand 171 Passengers Traveled in a Month
Minister Uraloğlu stated that domestic passenger traffic was 8 million 480 thousand 582 and international passenger traffic was 12 million 677 thousand 712 in May. Noting that a total of 21 million 170 thousand 171 passengers traveled, including direct transit passengers, Uraloğlu said, “There was a 3,7 percent increase in total passenger traffic, including direct transit, compared to the same month of the previous year. In the said month, the amount of cargo carried on domestic lines reached a total of 72 thousand 792 tons, with 365 thousand 71 tons on domestic lines and 437 thousand 863 tons on international lines.”
Number of Passengers Traveling by Air in 5 Months Nears 85,5 Million
Uraloğlu noted that in the January-May period, the aircraft traffic landing and taking off at the airports was 365 thousand 145 on domestic lines and 318 thousand 618 on international lines, thus reaching a total of 910 thousand 988 aircraft traffic including overflights. Uraloğlu stated that the total aircraft traffic served during the said period, including overflights, increased by 6,5 percent compared to the same period last year, and included the following statements in his statement:
“During this period, when domestic passenger traffic at airports across Turkey was 37 million 264 thousand 358 and international passenger traffic was 48 million 91 thousand 649, a total of 85 million 420 thousand 438 passengers were served, including direct transit passengers, approaching 85,5 million passengers. Istanbul Airport Served 31 Million 898 Thousand 425 Passengers
Minister Uraloğlu stated that in May, the plane traffic at Istanbul Airport, one of Türkiye's mega projects, reached 10 in total, with 596 on domestic flights and 35 on international flights. Uraloğlu also noted that a total of 960 passengers were served at Istanbul Airport, with 46 on domestic flights and 556 on international flights.
Uraloğlu, who stated that there was a total of 46 aircraft traffic at the airport in question between January and May, 257 on domestic lines and 166 on international lines, said, “There was a total of 721 passenger traffic, 212 on domestic lines and 978 on international lines.”

Uraloğlu, who also provided information about the passenger traffic of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, said, “In May, passenger traffic was 774 million 271 thousand 2 in domestic lines and 174 million 184 thousand 3 in international lines, totaling 948 million 455 thousand 9. Uraloğlu stated that a total of 43 aircraft traffic was carried out at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in the five-month period, 868 in domestic lines and 61 in international lines, and that a total of 410 passenger traffic was served, 105 in domestic lines and 278 in international lines.
Uraloğlu also reported that Istanbul Ataturk Airport aircraft traffic was 2 in the month in question and 546 in the five-month period.

Minister Uraloğlu noted that the number of passengers served at airports in tourism centers reached 5 million 6 thousand 686 in total in 715 months, 9 million 647 thousand 334 in domestic lines and 16 million 334 thousand 49 in international lines. “In the 5-month period, 4 million 357 thousand 154 passengers were served at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, 9 million 565 thousand 963 passengers at Antalya Airport, and 218 million 131 thousand 918 passengers at Muğla Dalaman Airport. While a total of 20 thousand 274 passengers were served at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, a total of 781 thousand XNUMX passengers were handled at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport.”
