US President Donald Trump has denied claims that he left the G7 leaders' summit in Canada early to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, describing Emmanuel Macron as a "publicity seeker" on social media.
Trump said he had “no idea” why the French president had returned to Washington and that it was for a “much bigger” reason than the ceasefire.
Macron had previously claimed that Trump had made an “offer” for a ceasefire.
Trump tweeted, “Publicity-seeking French President Emmanuel Macron left the G7 summit in Canada to return to Washington, falsely claiming that I was working for a “ceasefire” between Israel and Iran. Wrong!
"He doesn't know why I went to Washington, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the ceasefire. It's something much bigger than that. Whether intentionally or not, Emmanuel is always wrong. Stay tuned!" he wrote.
