The first session of the June council meetings of the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality was held under the presidency of Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç. Making a statement regarding the Light Rail Transportation System Project, Mayor Genç stated that they had a meeting with the General Manager of Infrastructure Investments Yalçın Eyigün in Ankara and said, “I would like to thank our General Manager Eyigün for embracing the project and contributing to us by feeling that excitement like a Trabzon resident. Our implementation project and drillings have been completed in our square area. We do not have any problems. We had a problem with the technical overlap of the land in our Yıldızlı area. We held that meeting. We produced 2 alternatives. Hopefully, we will overcome our problem there. We will have completed our implementation project as of August. We are carrying out the process exactly as we aimed.”

WE HAVE PUT OUT A 24-HOUR BASED STUDY

Referring to the disaster that occurred before Eid al-Adha, Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç provided information about the work that was done. Mayor Genç said, “Floods and inundations occurred in our city after heavy rainfall. In this regard, we all got to work together with our governor, Metropolitan Municipality, AFAD, fire department, other municipalities, mainly in Ortahisar, Akçaabat and partially in Maçka. I would like to thank the responsible authorities, managers, valuable mayors and all our colleagues. Get well soon to our city once again. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we put forth a substantial work 165 hours a day with 548 vehicles and 24 personnel. I would also like to express my thanks to all the teams that came from neighboring provinces for support and our managers and mayors there. Since the incident, 568 requests were conveyed to us via TİKOM and we met them.”

WE WILL TAKE NECESSARY MEASURES

President Genç concluded his words as follows: “A total of 121 tradesmen, 10 residences and 20 vehicles were recorded as damaged. We visited each of our tradesmen one-on-one. We conveyed our get well soon wishes. We made a great effort to clean both the main streets, side streets and our tradesmen’s premises. Even if you do everything, there may be risks. We will take the necessary precautions. All of these are compensated for, they come back. The life that does not come back… We also bid farewell to our dear brother Hüseyin Aydın who was swept away by the flood in Çukurca. May God have mercy on him. According to our belief, those who die in such disasters are considered martyrs. May God grant them the opportunity to meet in heaven. We visited our colleagues who became ill during the cleaning works. We wish our brothers to get well soon. We say, May God protect both our city and our country from such disasters.”
