Serving within the Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the 4-year-old German shepherd dog 'Bronze' detects the origin of fires in homes and workplaces, especially in forests, and reveals whether there is anything suspicious. Bronze, who receives 6 hours of training every day from his special trainer, makes the Gendarmerie's job easier.
Fire detection dog 'Bronze', who received 14 weeks of training on flammable materials at the Nevşehir Gendarmerie Horse and Dog Training Center Command, started working at the Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Command in January 2023.
Bronze, a 4-year-old German Shepherd, makes the gendarmerie’s job easier by detecting the origin of fires in homes and workplaces, especially in forests, and revealing whether there is anything suspicious. Bronze, one of the 4 fire dogs serving under the Gendarmerie General Command throughout Turkey and fed with special food, receives 6 hours of training every day by its trainer on the fitness track at the Provincial Gendarmerie Command. Unlike other dogs, Bronze is also trained by sniffing flammable substances such as thinner and gasoline. Bronze takes part in suspicious-looking fires, especially those in forests in Bursa and surrounding provinces, and helps teams determine whether they were started intentionally.
'HE WAS TRAINED TO FIND THE POINT OF STARTING FIRE'
Gendarmerie Sergeant Major Oğuzhan Uğur, who said that the fire detection dog Bronze was trained to find the starting point of the fire, said, “Bronze, a 4-year-old male, is a German shepherd. Fire detection dog Bronze successfully completed 14 weeks of training on flammable materials at the Gendarmerie Horse and Dog Training Center Command and started working within the Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Command in 2023. Bronze is fed with special food once a day. It was trained to find the starting point of the fire and serves after the cooling efforts of the fire zone are completed. There are 1 fire dogs serving within the Gendarmerie General Command throughout Turkey.”
