Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay attended the opening of the “Old Konya Paintings Exhibition”, prepared with the meticulous work of painter Nesip Koçer and included in Mithat Büyükalim’s collection.
Mayor Altay, who made an evaluation about the exhibition in Konya Metropolitan Municipality Taş Bina Exhibition Hall, stated that they realized the opening of a very important exhibition and that they were happy to bring the “Old Konya Paintings Exhibition” together with the people of Konya.
Stating that the works include streets and avenues where everyone will remember their memories, Mayor Altay said, “On the one hand, there is also a longing. Hopefully, we are making a very important effort with the Darülmülk Project to bring Konya back to its old state and bring its historical artifacts to light. This painting exhibition has also become an important collection that will attract the attention of art lovers. I would like to thank our exhibition owner Mithat Büyükalim and our painter Nesip Koçer. Despite his age, he continues to paint. He is one of the memories of our Konya. Hopefully, I invite all people of Konya to Taş Bina to see this exhibition of old Konya photographs.”
“MY MEMORIES CAME BACK TO LIFE HERE”
Painter Nesip Koçer also stated that he was very happy to see his works that he has been putting on canvas for years together and said, “My memories came back to life here. I didn’t know how much I worked, I was also surprised. Most of them are works made with research. I didn’t retire at home, I work slowly at home. The opening of this exhibition is very important. Nobody knew, even I didn’t know that I had so many paintings. I would also like to thank Konya Metropolitan Municipality for making the exhibition possible.”
“WE HAVE ALL REVEALED A VALUE OF KONYA TOGETHER”
Collector Mithat Büyükalim stated that the exhibition was the result of approximately 40 years of accumulation and said, “Nesip has done beautiful work. We have also revealed a value of Konya together. Hopefully, this is a start. I would like to thank Nesip Bey for bringing us these works. I hope his work continues.” Büyükalim thanked Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay and those who contributed.
ART LOVERS TOOK A JOURNEY TO THE PAST
Art lovers who visited the exhibition stated that they took a journey into the past with the works and that they liked the exhibition very much, and thanked Konya Metropolitan Municipality and everyone who contributed.
Hosted by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the “Old Konya Paintings Exhibition” consists of 50 paintings from the collection of Mithat Büyükalim, one of the notables of Konya, prepared with the meticulous work of painter Nesip Koçer. It also includes old Konya photographs, cameras and printing materials from Hasan Behçet’s collection in Koyunoğlu Museum.
The exhibition sheds light on Konya's eight-century history with old photographs and paintings at the Taş Bina Exhibition Hall until August 2.
