Tens of Thousands Flock to 'Mafia or Democracy' Rally in Spain

One hundred thousand people, according to the People's Party PP, and between 45 and 50 people, according to the government, filled the Plaza de Espana and the surrounding streets in a rally organized by the PP under the slogan "Mafia or Democracy?"

There were cries against Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, demanding his resignation and immediate general elections. Regional president Isabel Diaz Ayuso warned against the “dictatorship of the minority” that Sanchez said was running Spain. And there, PP leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo called for courage so that the Spanish people could decide at the ballot box.

The People's Party (PP) has portrayed Spain as a country on the path to dictatorship. Opposition leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo called on people to choose "between complicity or non-complicity, excesses or cleanliness" and "between corruption or kindness".

The protest was the sixth organized by the PP since the last general elections and the PP described the event, which was held without any acronyms in order to appeal to as many Spaniards as possible, as a “success”. According to the party’s estimates, more than 100 people gathered around Don Quixote Square. However, the government announced that the number of citizens who chanted “Pedro Sanchez, resign!” in unison for an hour was 50.
