Pakistan Railways Joins Forces with PITB on the Path to Digitalization

Pakistan Railways has signed a significant partnership with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) with the aim of transforming the national railway services with modern technology solutions and advancing its digital strategy.

Technology Focused Roadmap and Expectations

The delegation, led by Pakistan Railways IT Director Syed Ali Raza, met with PITB to discuss collaboration opportunities and digital integration opportunities. Officials such as Abdul Qayyum, Khurram Shahzad and Syed Zafar Gilani also attended the meeting.

Raza gave a detailed presentation of the department’s technology-focused roadmap at the meeting. This roadmap focuses on automation, real-time systems and smart passenger services, increasing speed, reliability and operational transparency aims.

The PITB team, led by Additional Director General Syed Qasim Ifzal, gave presentations on successful digital governance tools. Joint Director Arsalan Manzoor shared models applicable to railway modernization. Both teams discussed integrating the existing infrastructure with the evolving technology needs of Pakistan Railways. During the guided tour of PITB’s Data Center, the system architecture was reviewed and interoperability possibilities were assessed.

Digital Transformation in Public Service

PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stressed the importance of secure and scalable technology frameworks for public institutions, expressing his belief that this alliance can significantly improve railway efficiency and public service delivery.

Pakistan Railways appreciated the achievements of PITB and emphasized their interest in continuing the collaboration. Through this partnership, citizen-centric solutions are planned to be implemented to create a more accessible and digitally empowered railway network.

This type of collaboration has the potential to fundamentally change how rail services are managed, delivered and experienced across the country.
