New Measures Against Unauthorized Services from the Ministry of Commerce

The Ministry of Commerce announced the measures regarding some companies and individuals who present themselves as authorized services regarding the need for maintenance, repair and installation services in the electronic product group.

The Ministry of Trade has provided information about some companies and individuals who present themselves as authorized services through internet search engines regarding the need for maintenance, repair and installation services in many electronic product groups, especially air conditioners, with the arrival of summer.

The Ministry stated that some individuals or companies appear at the top of search results through sponsored advertisements by turning the need to their advantage, and said, “In addition, they introduce themselves as ‘authorized services’ by using the brands and logos of manufacturing or importing companies without permission and can victimize consumers. Such fake service practices cause serious victimization for consumers. Fraud cases such as the use of non-original spare parts, the product being out of warranty, the product being damaged due to inadequate or incorrect intervention, the repair not being done at all or being done incompletely, high and unfair service fees, and even in some cases, accessing personal data under the pretext of remote access occur.”

Service Information System (SERBIS) developed by the Ministry to prevent our consumers from being harmed by such deceptive practices. http://www.servis.gov.tr While it was emphasized that it is possible to access authorized service information about the products quickly and securely, the following suggestions were given to consumers:

“Before receiving authorized service; the manufacturer or importer company information of the product must be checked. The accuracy of the service information reached in internet searches must be verified via the company's official website or SERBİS. In suspicious cases or when our consumers encounter fake service attempts; they can make complaints and reports via the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER) and the Ministry of Trade's official website.”
