
In a major step forward in its international expansion strategy, Czech rail operator RegioJet plans to launch a new Munich-Budapest train service that will bypass the Czech Republic entirely. This will be the first route in the company’s history to not include any domestic segments.
Two Pairs of Trains to Run Through Austria
RegioJet plans to operate two pairs of trains through Austria for this new route. The project has received approval from Austria’s Schienenkontrol authority, and RegioJet owner Radim Jančura has officially confirmed the plans.
The trains will consist of a locomotive and passenger carriages of the Ampz, Bmpz, Bmz and ABmz models. On the way to Budapest, In Salzburg, Linz, St. Pölten and the two major Vienna stations (Meidling and Central Station) stops are planned. In Hungary, the train is in Budapest Hegyeshalom, Mosonmagyaróvár, Győr and Kelenföldwill stop at.
Timetable and Launch Date
Departures from Munich At 06:35 and 15:35, Arrivals in Budapest At 13:00 and 22:00 planned. Return flights from Budapest At 06:00 and 15:00 will depart for Munich At 12:25 and 21:25 will arrive.

RegioJet recently gained access to routes in Poland with FlixTrain and several Polish regional operators, highlighting the increasing competition between private rail carriers in the region. This new Munich-Budapest route is considered a strategic move that will further increase RegioJet’s influence in the European rail market.
