Life-Saving Operation from Izmir Fire Department

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality fire crews successfully rescued a 12-year-old child who fell from a tree onto an iron garden fence. The crews first arrived at the scene and administered first aid to the child, then entered from under the right armpit and cut out the iron lodged in the front of the pleura under the supervision of doctors at the hospital.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department teams went to the incident upon receiving a report and saved the life of a child. 12-year-old OD Kemalpaşa fell from a tree in the 8 Eylül Neighborhood. The spiked railing bars of the apartment building got stuck in the unfortunate child's body. Teams arriving at the scene determined that the iron bar entered and exited the child's right forearm. Another iron bar was observed to have entered from under the right armpit and stuck in the front of the pleura.

They cut out the iron

Following the first intervention of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department Kemalpaşa Group, OD was immediately taken to the Ege University Hospital Children's Emergency Service. Firefighters and paramedics from the Izmir Fire Department Bornova Group also took part in cutting and removing the iron. The teams successfully removed the iron that had entered his armpit in the hospital's resuscitation room under the supervision of general surgery, anesthesia, orthopedics and thoracic surgery teams. It was learned that the child's general health condition was good, there was no danger to his life, and he would be discharged soon.
