Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres (IzBBŞT) made an evaluation regarding the plays it presented to the audience, the tours it carried out and the number of audiences it reached in the 2024-2025 theatre season.
After Levent Üzümcü was appointed as the General Art Director in September 2024, İzBBŞT, which is preparing for the season, opened its curtains in October. Appearing before art lovers in İzmir with four new plays in the new season, “The Strange Story of Rüstemoğlu Cemal”, “The Very Strange Investigation”, “The Ship of Democracy” and “Cities, Roads, Stories”, İzBBŞT staged a total of 9 different plays, two of which were children's plays, throughout the season.
This season, a total of 144 screenings were held, including tours covering five districts. A total of 35.773 viewers were reached in these screenings.
İzBBŞT also organized free special events on special days such as Teachers' Day, Women's Day, and the anniversary of Nazım Hikmet's death. Finally, on the anniversary of Nazım Hikmet's death, Nazım Hikmet's "Kuvâyi Milliye Epic" met with the audience in the form of a recital.
During this period, İzBBŞT also met with the people of İzmir with social responsibility projects. The puppet play called “Girafe Seeking Itself”, staged by İzBBŞT actors, the puppets used in the play and distributed to children were produced by İzBBŞT technical staff, reached children at the secondary school level with the contributions of İzBB Lens Project and Libraries Branch Directorate. In addition, İzBBŞT is preparing to be with the children with the shows prepared by its actors in order to support the efforts of children receiving treatment in the oncology services of children’s hospitals in the city to regain their physical health and to boost their morale. The first of the meetings will take place in the coming days. It is planned to organize these visits periodically.
