At the 25th Search for Excellence Symposium organized by the Izmir Branch of the Turkish Quality Association (KalDer), Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Sustainability and Urban Strategies Branch Directorate won the "Non-Profit Projects Award" within the scope of the "Successful Team of the Year Award".

Izmir, which is included in the European Union Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission and is also the only city in Türkiye to carry the Mission Label, aims to be one of the pioneer cities of global transformation movements that started locally with the sustainability works of the Metropolitan Municipality. Transforming the understanding of institutional excellence on the basis of sustainability, the Metropolitan Municipality works to create an exemplary model in the public sector and to enable new collaborations.

Sustainable transformation vision comes to the fore

The symposium, organized at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASSM) within the scope of KalDer's 25th year, brought together public, private sector and civil society representatives under the theme of "seeking excellence" and aimed to disseminate the culture of quality in line with the principles of institutional excellence and to encourage common learning around current concepts such as sustainability, innovation, strategic leadership and human-centered transformation.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality summarized its sustainability efforts and its purpose of participating in this event under three headings:
Sharing the Vision of Sustainable Transformation: With the establishment of the Sustainability and Urban Strategies Branch Directorate under the leadership of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, sustainability began to be managed by an institutional unit for the first time in Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

Presenting Good Practice Examples: The Green Collar Executive Personnel Network, Sustainability Academy and GRI Reporting processes, which can be considered pioneers at the local government level in Türkiye, stand out as structural reforms that align with KalDer's excellence model.
Interacting with Stakeholders: By sharing sustainability efforts that transform institutional capacity in Izmir, it is aimed to inspire other institutions and pave the way for new collaborations.
