Konya Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre, which has won the appreciation of theatre lovers with the quality plays it has staged, hosted approximately 2025 thousand spectators in the first 5 months of 21.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that Konya is an important city of civilization that has been the cradle of science, wisdom, culture and art throughout history.
Underlining that Konya City Theatre has made significant contributions to Konya’s cultural and artistic life since the day it was founded, Mayor Altay said, “Our City Theatre, which has received great interest from art lovers, has achieved another significant success by reaching 2025% occupancy in the first 5 months of 94. We brought 38 viewers together with theatre in 20 performances held during this period.”
Reminding that Konya City Theater wrote an important success story last year, President Altay said, “Our City Theater reached 2024 viewers in 47. The interest of our fellow citizens in our City Theater makes us happy. We will continue to work with the vision of a Konya that lives with art and makes art a part of daily life. I would like to express my gratitude to all theater lovers from Konya who follow our plays with interest.”
Konya Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre, which has brought together 2018 plays, 5 for children and 19 for adults, with theatre lovers since 24, staged the plays “The Play That Came Out of the Way”, “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “The Blue Bird”, “Amak-ı Hayal”, “Journey in Hiçu”, “The Inspector” and “Creating a Man” in 2025.
One of the ongoing plays of Konya City Theatre, “Keykubad” inspired by historical events will be staged on June 28, and “Yoldan Çıkan Oyunu” written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields and translated into Turkish by Mehmet Ergen will be staged on July 3 at the Selçuklu Congress Center.
Konya City Theatre, which will go on hiatus as of July, will continue to meet with the people of Konya with new and different plays as of September, when the season opens.
