Gaziantep Foods Photography Competition Catalogue is Published

The epic story of Gaziantep cuisine written in photographs: “1st Gaziantep Food and Food Culture National Photography Contest Catalogue” has been published as an e-book.

Gazikültür Publications, a subsidiary of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, published the competition catalogue in e-book format, which brings together the distinguished works of the “1st Gaziantep Food and Food Culture National Photography Competition” organized in collaboration with Gaziantep Photographers Association (GAFSAD) and Turkish Photographic Arts Federation (TFSF) in order to document this deep-rooted culinary heritage and carry it to the future.

In this catalogue, the culinary culture of Gaziantep, which was included in the “Creative Cities Network” in the field of gastronomy by UNESCO, was reflected in the frames as a journey from soil to table. The competition, organized in two separate categories as “Gaziantep Kazan Dishes” and “Gaziantep Street Flavors and Food Culture”, created a multi-layered narrative by bringing together both the spirit of traditional tables and the taste landscapes intertwined with daily life.

This catalogue, which constitutes the visual memory of gastronomy, is an archival work for both photography lovers and all art lovers interested in the preservation of cultural heritage. http://www.gbbkultur.com It can be downloaded for free from .

“EVERY STAGE FROM THE COOLER TO THE TABLE HAS BEEN IMMORTALIZED WITH PHOTOGRAPHS”

Making a statement on the occasion of the publication of the catalogue, GBB Kültür A.Ş. General Manager Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Yakar made the following assessments regarding the purpose of the competition:

“Gaziantep has become a city that attracts not only Türkiye’s but also the world’s attention with its gastronomic riches. While organizing this competition, we aimed not only to document the dishes in an aesthetic way, but also to show how this culinary culture is intertwined with social life. Within the scope of the competition, every stage from the production in the field to the preparation in the kitchen, from the mastery at the cauldron to the table was immortalized with photographs in a wide time period covering four seasons. From the stories boiling at the cauldrons to the steaming food stalls on the streets, Gaziantep’s cuisine is actually the memory of a people. The photographers participating in the competition made a strong contribution to the promotion of our city by recording this memory masterfully. Our catalogue will be a visual memory not only of today but also of the future.”
