No Eye is Allowed on Facilities Polluting the Environment

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change imposed a fine of 53 million 38 thousand 114 TL on 589 facilities determined to be causing air pollution in May through the Continuous Emission Measurement System, which instantly monitors the chimney exits of industrial facilities. Minister Kurum, who stated that inspections will be increased in every field, said, “We are not making concessions in the fight against air pollution. We have imposed the necessary fines on industrial facilities that do not comply with the rules. Our fight for the health of our people and our nature will continue.”

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change continues its inspections of businesses that cause environmental pollution throughout the country. In addition to the periodic inspections conducted by the Ministry in the field, emission values ​​in 414 industrial facilities and 802 chimneys throughout Turkey are monitored instantly 7 hours a day, 24 days a week, through the Continuous Monitoring Center (CMC) and Continuous Emission Measurement Systems (CEMS).

LIMIT EXCEEDINGS ARE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY

Pollutant gases and particulate matter released into the atmosphere from facilities and chimneys are measured and recorded instantly and continuously. Exceeding legal limits are reported to the Continuous Monitoring Center instantly thanks to this system. As a result of the examination of flue gas emission values ​​transmitted to the Continuous Monitoring Center, 53 facilities that were found to cause air pollution in May were fined 38 million 114 thousand 589 TL.

STRICT MONITORING OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Industrial facilities that are not required to establish a Continuous Emission Measurement System within the scope of environmental legislation are also monitored through periodic inspections. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change encourages environmentally friendly production in line with the green transformation goal and continues its inspections to protect the environment.
