Chery successfully passed the demanding side beam crash test at a speed of 32 km/h, conducted in full compliance with Euro NCAP test protocols, demonstrating its passive safety performance, high-voltage system protection and accessibility for rescue after an accident. These excellent results confirm Chery’s product philosophy of “safety is the ultimate luxury”.
In the latest side beam crash test, the Chery was thrown sideways at a speed of 32 km/h into a rigid 254 mm diameter pole. The impact hit the driver's door, one of the most vulnerable points in a possible crash. The two crash test dummies sitting in the front seats did not suffer any significant injuries to critical body areas, demonstrating the vehicle's excellent protective properties.
The model's passenger compartment exhibited excellent structural integrity, with the A, B and C pillars having minimal recession and all doors remaining securely closed throughout the impact. This effectively prevented the occupant from being thrown, a critical safety measure in side impacts. The protection systems worked with precise timing; side airbags, curtain airbags and far-side airbags deployed within milliseconds to create protective buffer zones.
These systems effectively isolate the driver from the interior trim parts and side windows, while significantly reducing secondary impacts for front seat occupants. In addition, the seat belt tensioners were immediately activated and the seat structures remained intact at the time of the accident. The high-voltage system, which complies with global electric vehicle safety standards, instantly cuts off the power upon impact. The battery pack remained stable without any displacement, electrolyte leakage or thermal runaway. The intelligent emergency response system automatically opened the side door handles without impact for emergency exit and activated the hazard warning lights to assist first responders. In addition, the fuel system remained completely intact and no leakage was detected, further confirming Chery’s comprehensive safety engineering.
The Chery TIGGO series has successfully passed a comprehensive series of internal safety assessments according to Euro NCAP protocols, including the 50 km/h mobile progressive barrier impact test, the 60 km/h mobile deformable barrier side impact test and the 100% rigid barrier front impact test. The latest result in the tough side impact test with a beam is clear evidence of the model's five-star safety level.
