
The new export route of Bursa baby and children's clothing sector representatives has become the sub-Saharan country Ghana. Continuing their work under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, the members of the Baby and Children's Clothing sector UR-GE Project signed a 2-day B2B organization in Accra, the capital of Ghana. Within the scope of the event, Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also met with Bursa business world representatives.
Export campaigns in international markets continue under the leadership of BTSO in Bursa, one of the important production centers of the baby and children's clothing sector in Türkiye. In this context, UR-GE members examined the Ghana market. The delegation, which visited the trade zones in Accra, met with business world representatives from Ghana, one of the rising economies of West Africa, at the cooperation table for two days. The delegation included BTSO Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors İsmail Kuş, BTSO Vice Chairman of the Assembly Metin Şenyurt, BEKSİAD President Mehmet Bayezit and nearly 90 business world representatives.
Ghana Foreign Minister Ablakwa: “I Witnessed a Beautiful Event”
BTSO’s first organization in Ghana was also visited by Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. Minister Ablakwa, who visited the stands of Bursa companies one by one and wished them success, thanked BTSO and emphasized the importance of Bursa companies and Ghanaian business world representatives coming together for the two countries. Minister Ablakwa, who stated that they were very happy to see both diplomatic and commercial relations between the two countries developing, said, “I witnessed a really nice and successful event in the field of baby and children’s clothing. We were very impressed by the quality and design of the products exhibited here together with our Ghanaian business people. It was a really great event. Thank you very much for the visit.”
Ismail Kus: “Africa Should Never Be Neglected for Trade”
BTSO Board of Directors Vice President İsmail Kuş said that they aim to establish new trade connections with Ghana, one of the most strategic countries in Africa. Stating that BTSO attaches importance to the export-oriented growth of sectors, İsmail Kuş said, “We organize organizations with broad participation for different sectors all over the world. Our Ministry of Trade has serious support in UR-GE projects. We thank our Ministry in this sense. I believe that Africa is a region that should never be neglected for trade. This is a rising value. While trade is shrinking in the world, there is economic growth in Africa. We should establish more trade connections in this geography. As the Bursa business world, we are ready to contribute to this process and grow our investments and collaborations.”
Ambassador Güngör: “Ghana is an Important Hub for Transition to West Africa”
The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Ghana, Hüseyin Güngör, who visited Bursa companies in the B2B organization, said that he was very pleased with the visit of Bursa companies. Güngör, who drew attention to the fact that the trade volume between Ghana and Turkey is increasing every passing period, said, “Turkey and Ghana relations are quite good. Ghana is an important center for the transition to West Africa. I believe that export figures will increase. We always welcome Bursa companies to Ghana. There is serious potential and opportunity in Ghana. There is a serious belief in the quality of our country's products. You can't do business without coming. I am sure that you will see how useful this event is soon.”
“Opportunity for New Trade Bridges”
Meeting with Bursa companies, Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Stephen Miezan said, “We are pleased that baby and children's clothing companies are coming to Ghana. It is important that BTSO has such a large delegation from Bursa. With this visit, a new trade bridge is being established between Accra and Bursa. I believe that these steps will make a significant contribution to trade between the two countries.”
“The Organization Provided Motivation to the Sector”
Bursa business world representatives evaluated the business meetings held in Accra. BTSO Assembly Vice President Metin Senyurt stated that the B2B organization was quite productive and said, “A busy program was signed. Our aim is to contribute to our sector and ensure that companies open up to the world. It was a good start for the sector.” BTSO Assembly Member and sector representative Mesut Okyay thanked BTSO, the Ministry of Trade and BEKSIAD and said, “These business meetings held in Ghana during this period when the economy is stagnant provided motivation to our companies. There is a certain order and system in this region, which we call ECOWAS countries, such as Benin, Ghana, Togo, Niger and Nigeria. I find the event meaningful in this respect.”
“We Found New Customers. We Return with Orders”
Selahattin Mizan, one of the sector representatives, stated that he has been involved in the UR-GE project, which started with the guidance of BTSO President İbrahim Burkay, from the very beginning and made significant contributions to his company, and said, “I would like to thank our Ministry of Trade, BTSO and BEKSİAD. UR-GE projects have ignited a fuse for the development of our sector. Our duty is to try to take place in export markets, and it is important to come to Ghana during this period when world trade is in crisis. We received concrete orders in the organization. We added many companies to our contact list. We want to continue the business connections we have established.”
Sector representative Serkan Çetintaş stated that he had the opportunity to meet again with companies he had previously done business with in Ghana thanks to the organization, and underlined that the UR-GE projects made a significant contribution to his company's opening up to new markets. Sector representative Zahide Arı stated that she had met with many companies in the B2B organization, and said that they returned from Ghana with positive developments and that they will work to exist in the Ghanaian market.
