Bursa Metropolitan Municipality is preparing the beaches of Bursa, which has a total of 277 kilometers of sea and lake coastline, for the summer season that will start on June 15. The beaches, where the pollution formed during the winter months has been cleaned, environmental, maintenance and repair works have been completed and sand reinforcements have been made, will offer the opportunity for guests from within and outside the city to enjoy their holidays this season.
The Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its efforts to ensure that Bursa can get its fair share of summer tourism by emphasizing its coastal city identity, is preparing 24 public beaches for the summer months. The Metropolitan Municipality, which aims to gradually increase the quality of Bursa’s beaches with 115 kilometers of sea and 162 kilometers of lake shore, will complete its efforts on public beaches in its area of responsibility by June 15. The waste generated during the winter months was meticulously cleaned by 224 personnel and 41 vehicles affiliated with the Coastal Planning and Construction Branch Directorate of the Parks and Gardens Department. The maintenance and repair of 95 showers and 87 changing cabins on public beaches were completed along with reinforcement, sand laying and leveling operations for sand losses. Bursa residents will be able to use the beaches safely thanks to the lifeguards assigned by the Metropolitan Municipality. Seasonal pollution on the beaches throughout the swimming season will also be cleaned daily by the teams. Water quality will also be monitored by expert teams. Suggestions and complaints from citizens will be evaluated by the teams and the necessary work will be done immediately.
Stating that Bursa’s coastal identity is also important in addition to being a city of history, nature and culture, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey stated that intensive work is being done to prepare the coastal areas in his areas of responsibility for the summer season. Stating that they want citizens coming from within the city or outside the city to be able to enjoy the sea and summer in Bursa without going far away, Mayor Bozbey said, “We prioritize our investments to increase the quality of our beaches, make our coasts more comfortable and spread sea tourism. We are safely progressing towards our goal of a ‘green, white, blue city’ by undertaking works that make our people smile on all our beaches. We are working so that each of our citizens can benefit from the beauties of our city in the best and equal way. Bursa is developing and becoming more beautiful every day.”
