Agendas and Commemoration at the Assembly Meeting
President Muhittin Böcek In the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Council June ordinary meeting held under the presidency, a total of 153 agenda items were discussed. Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who recently passed away, was not forgotten at the meeting. Council members attended the meeting wearing Ferdi Zeyrek's photo on their lapels and Fatiha was recited for him. A banner with Zeyrek's photo and the words "We Will Not Forget You" was hung on the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Service Building.
Mayor Böcek thanked the members of the assembly for the respect shown to the memory of Ferdi Zeyrek and said, “We lost our very valuable brother, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek. All of Turkey is saddened together. I would like to thank you for your prayers and support. On June 4, we had signed a protocol with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality regarding Manisa Metropolitan Municipality water management and ASAT ALDAŞ technology water management. We were going to share our beautiful projects, but we lost our brother in a terrible accident. I pray to God for mercy on my helpful brother Ferdi Zeyrek. May he rest in peace.”
Rain of Awards with Environmental Projects
President Muhittin Böcek, also made important statements regarding the agenda at the council meeting. Emphasizing that Antalya Metropolitan Municipality has undertaken important works regarding the environment since the day it took office, Böcek also shared the results of these efforts: “We received our 24th environmental award. These are again thanks to my valuable colleagues and environmental friends of this council. We established 8 ship waste collection stations, and as if that was not enough, we are monitoring all ships with 23 thermal cameras. We have imposed over 120 million fines on those polluting our seas. Blue flags were awarded to Antalya as a result of our works regarding the environment and the blue flag criteria.” These achievements show Antalya’s sensitivity regarding environmental protection and its determination to become a sustainable city.
Current Status and Expectations in Rail System Projects
President Böcek also gave information about the eagerly awaited rail system projects. Böcek also shared up-to-date information about the other stages of the rail system projects: “We have reached the project stage regarding the Döşemealtı stage. We are also putting out to tender regarding the project implementation of the 5th stage.” These statements show that Antalya is taking determined steps towards its goal of expanding its public transportation network with rail systems, but is also expecting support from the central government.
It is stated that the rail system projects that aim to solve Antalya's transportation problems are of critical importance for the growth and development of the city. Mayor Böcek's call raises curiosity about the steps to be taken to accelerate the project and include it in the investment program.
