Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay attended the Izmir Balcony and Garden Plants Festival, organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for the first time this year, and met with producers and citizens attending the festival. Mayor Tugay, who presented flowers to children, also encountered a Father's Day surprise.
The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started hosting the Izmir Balcony and Garden Plants Festival for the first time this year in order to popularize balcony gardening and urban agriculture and to support the ornamental plant sector. Producer stands and flower-loving citizens came together in the festival area set up in Kültürpark. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay also attended the festival and met with both producers and visitors. Mayor Tugay, who visited the stands with colorful flowers, chatted with producers and shopped, was met with great interest from the people of Izmir. The citizens, who stated that they were very pleased with Mayor Tugay's services, thanked Mayor Tugay.
Father's Day surprise
During the stand tour, Mayor Tugay presented flowers to 4-year-old Şevval Yılmaz and 12-year-old Kumsal Göylüsü, and also visited the stand of women producers who produce cactus and succulent plants in the greenhouse established within the scope of the “Strengthening Seeds Project” of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Mayor Tugay, who chatted with women producers and shopped here, encountered a surprise from 10-year-old Ecem Akdoğan. Akdoğan presented flowers to Mayor Tugay and celebrated Father’s Day.
At the opening of the festival, which brought ornamental plant producers, cooperatives and local producers together with consumers, on June 13, 25 thousand vegetable seedlings were distributed to citizens free of charge.
