Ankara Metropolitan Municipality EGO General Directorate, which has the most environmentally friendly bus fleet in Europe, continues its R&D studies without interruption in line with its sustainable transportation targets. In addition to further developing the existing CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fueled vehicle fleet, an important step was taken with the vision of increasing the number of electric buses. In this context, as a result of the cooperation with the local bus manufacturer Otokar, the E-Kent C brand solo type electric bus was allocated to EGO for 30 days free of charge and test drives have begun.
Electric Bus Being Tested in Gölbaşı
The E-Kent C brand electric bus allocated to EGO by Otokar was commissioned from the Gölbaşı Bus Departure Point and started test runs on different routes serving between various neighborhoods of the district and the city center. These test runs are meticulously monitored by EGO's expert technical teams in order to analyze the vehicle's performance in real road conditions in detail and comprehensive evaluations are made. During the test process, critical parameters such as the bus' range, energy consumption, passenger comfort, driving dynamics and compatibility with the charging infrastructure are closely examined.
EGO's Vision of Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable Transportation
EGO General Directorate once again demonstrates its determination to significantly reduce carbon emissions, support sustainability in urban transportation and popularize the use of environmentally friendly transportation vehicles with such innovative studies. These strategic steps for the future aim to make Ankara’s transportation infrastructure more environmentally friendly, quiet and economical. The widespread use of electric buses will make significant contributions to improving air quality, reducing noise pollution and reducing operating costs. EGO’s R&D studies and collaborations in this area constitute an important part of Ankara’s vision to become a sustainable city.
