Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGİAD) added a new one to its events focusing on global investment trends and international expansions of the business world. On Monday, May 12, 2025 EGİAD The seminar titled “UK Business and Investment Opportunities” held at the Association Center attracted great interest with the participation of the UK Ministry of Business and Trade Turkey officials. The seminar covered the UK’s investment environment, post-Brexit trade dynamics and the opportunities it offers to the Turkish business world in detail. Investment potential in sectors such as finance, technology, creative industries and clean energy was particularly emphasized.
The seminar featured speakers including Zeynep Öztekbaş, Director of Foreign Investments in Turkey at the UK Ministry of Business and Trade, Güliz Kıymaz, Trade Manager at the British Consulate in Izmir, and Nuh Üstün, Senior Trade Advisor.
Internationalization Has Become a Strategic Imperative
The keynote speaker of the meeting EGİAD Secretary General Dr. H.İ. Murat Çelik emphasized the importance of the opportunities offered by global trade in his speech. Çelik noted the following in his speech: “We consider internationalization not only as a means of growth, but also as a strategic step that secures the long-term existence of our companies.”
Çelik emphasized that in the developing digital world, it is insufficient for companies to focus only on local markets, EGİAD Stating that they encourage their members to be more active and competitive in global markets, he said, “The United Kingdom: An Attractive Ecosystem for Entrepreneurs. Highly educated workforce, culture of innovation, solid legal system and ease of doing business make the United Kingdom an attractive destination for entrepreneurs and investors.” Noting that the Free Trade Agreement signed between Turkey and the United Kingdom in 2021 rapidly increased bilateral trade volume, Çelik underlined that services, digital trade and investments will also be included in the scope of this agreement along with the modernization process.
Importance Given to International Expansions
Çelik, who touched on the importance of not giving up on the internationalization goal, expressed their determination on this issue as follows: “We need to invest in the future. The world is changing, opportunities are changing, and those who are ready for this change will be the winners of the future.” EGİAD Noting that they will host similar events in the coming period in order to support their members' expansion into global markets, EGİAD Secretary General Dr. H.İ. Murat Çelik also announced that they will visit VivaTech Paris in the second week of June and emphasized that they aim to participate in international organizations such as London Tech Week in the coming years.
