STM Double Signature in Malaysia

STM, one of the leading companies in the Turkish defense industry, signed two cooperation protocols in Malaysia regarding military maritime and tactical mini UAV systems.

STM, which has signed national and innovative systems in the Turkish defense industry, has signed two new collaborations in the global arena. At the 17th Langkawi International Maritime, Space and Aviation (LIMA 2025) Fair held in Malaysia, a goodwill agreement was signed between STM and Lumut Naval Shipyard SDN BHD (LUNAS), one of Malaysia’s well-established shipyards, for cooperation in marine projects. The ceremony was attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Enver İbrahim, Malaysian Defense Minister Mohammed Khalid Bin Nordin, President of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, and STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz. The agreement was signed by STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz and Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) CEO Ir. Azhar Jumaat.

Güleryüz: We Aim for High Value Added Projects

STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz stated that STM is a pioneer in Türkiye in the field of marine projects and noted the following:

“We started the construction of three corvettes for the Royal Malaysian Navy under the scope of LMS Batch-2 in Türkiye in 2024 and the process is continuing successfully. We are also exhibiting the Multi-Purpose Support Ship, which we designed in accordance with the needs of the Royal Malaysian Navy, for the first time at the LİMA Fair. We see the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) we signed with Lunas as a step that will not only contribute to the defense industry cooperation between the two countries, but also to regional maritime security. As STM, we are proud to share our deep experience and unique capabilities in Turkish maritime engineering with friendly and allied countries. With this cooperation, we aim to undertake local production and high value-added projects.”

“We Are Expanding Our UAV Expertise on a Global Scale”

A memorandum of understanding was also signed in LİMA between Malaysia's major military aviation company G7 Aerospace and STM for the joint production of Tactical Mini UAV Systems in Malaysia. Güleryüz also touched upon the agreement with G7 Company and gave the following messages:

“Our mini UAV systems have been successfully used by the Turkish Armed Forces for 8 years. We have exported our products such as KARGU, TOGAN, and BOYGA, which have proven themselves successfully in real warfare environments in the fight against terrorism, cross-border operations, and special operations, to more than 3 countries in 10 different continents to date. This goodwill agreement, which will spread STM’s expertise in UAV systems on a global scale, will further strengthen the defense and security cooperation between Malaysia and Turkey. We aim to develop our defense capacities and relations by providing engineering support in tactical UAV technologies to the Malaysian Army, of which we are an important solution partner in the maritime field. We will continue to increase the power of the Turkish defense industry by expanding our strategic cooperation on a global scale.”
