Work Continues for Malatya Rail System Project

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Sami Er, who made great efforts to get Malatya back on its feet after the earthquake disaster, announced important transportation projects for the future of the city at the launch meeting he held in his first year of office. Mayor Er emphasized that they will carry Malatya into the future with the reconstruction works carried out after the earthquake as well as the rail system and prestigious street arrangements in the meeting he held at the Malatya Congress and Culture Center.

Kışla and İnönü Streets Are Being Renovated, Work Continues for the Rail System

Mayor Sami Er, who gave detailed information about the projects to be implemented in the field of transportation, announced the good news that the expansion and arrangement works have started on Kışla and İnönü Streets, which are the main arteries of the city. These works aim to make the streets more modern and useful.

President Er also made important statements regarding the rail system project, which is of great importance for Malatya. President Er, who stated that the feasibility studies of the rail system have not yet been completed, noted that they have conveyed the issue to the President and that the Ministry of Transportation is currently continuing its work. President Er provided the details of the project as follows: “The rail system feasibility study has not been completed, but we have presented the issue to the President. Our Ministry of Transportation is currently continuing its work. We are planning a suburban line that will extend to the station, İkizce, University and OSB. The route will be 6,7 km long, designed as double track and 13 stations. The vehicles will be a set of 2 trams. It is aimed to carry 50 thousand passengers daily.” A significant transformation is expected in Malatya’s urban transportation with this visionary project.
