Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality is carrying out extensive work on roads and intersections with the aim of creating a safe and orderly transportation network throughout the city. Transportation Department teams are working intensively in the city center and districts to increase traffic safety, increase transportation comfort and ensure pedestrian priority.
New Traffic Signs and Maintenance Works
Within the scope of these works, 32 new traffic signs were installed throughout the city in order to guide and inform drivers and pedestrians correctly. The existing signs were also maintained and renewed, increasing their visibility and functionality. In this way, it is aimed for drivers to easily follow their routes and act in accordance with traffic rules.
Road Lines Renewed, Markings Made
In order to maximize driving safety on main arteries, streets and avenues, 2 kilometers of road marking renewal work was carried out. Lane separation, parking ban, direction and speed warning signs are installed, allowing drivers to drive in a more controlled and safe manner.
Special Studies for Pedestrian Priority
Work prioritizing pedestrian safety was carried out especially in school surroundings, hospital fronts and areas with high pedestrian density. In this context, pedestrian crossings were repainted to increase their visibility and make it easier for drivers to notice pedestrians. In addition, 611 curbs and horizontal signs were completed to support the safety of pedestrian crossings.
Night Safety Increased with Solar Powered Warning Buttons
Solar-powered warning buttons mounted horizontally in the median strip were put into use to regulate vehicle traffic at intersections and to prevent accidents by increasing night visibility in particular. 442 warning buttons were installed throughout the city, allowing drivers to be more careful when approaching intersections. Thanks to their solar energy, they offer an environmentally friendly solution.
Traffic Calms with Speed Bumps
A 548-meter-long speed bump was built to ensure compliance with speed limits and to slow down vehicle traffic, especially in sensitive areas such as schools, hospitals, and mosques. The bumps were supported with horizontal markings so that they could be more easily noticed by drivers. In this way, the safety of pedestrians and other vehicle users is increased.
Lane Violations Are Prevented with Delineators
In order to make traffic flow smoother and prevent lane violations, 17 delineators were placed in points where significant traffic density is experienced throughout the city. In this way, it is aimed to make drivers pay more attention to their lanes and to prevent sudden lane changes.
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department announced that it will continue its work without interruption in line with the goals of making urban transportation safer, more comfortable and more regular. These works aim to improve traffic flow and reduce the risk of accidents in Diyarbakır.
