Türkiye's Mobility Strategy Announced

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced Türkiye's vision and strategies in the mobility sector at the Climate and Economy Sustainable Mobility Vehicles and Technologies Summit held in Bilişim Vadisi. Stating that they shared the "Mobility Vehicles and Technologies Strategies Roadmap" with the public, Minister Kacır emphasized Türkiye's goal of being a pioneer in this field and a strong country in production.

Transformation and Sustainability in the Mobility Industry

Minister Kacır stated that the summit will shed light on the transformation in the mobility sector at a time when the fight against climate change is gaining importance. He emphasized that the restructuring of the mobility sector, which is a major source of carbon emissions, in line with sustainability and environmentalism is of critical importance in the fight against climate change. He stated that the automotive industry is at the forefront of a multi-dimensional transformation that requires redefining mobility.

Electric Vehicles and the Global Market

Minister Kacır stated that vehicles have become smart autonomous systems with the developments in sensor, communication and artificial intelligence technologies, and said that the decrease in battery costs and batteries with high energy density have made electric vehicles more attractive. He explained that electric vehicle sales have increased in the global market and that there has been a significant increase in hybrid and electric vehicle sales in Türkiye.

Türkiye's Mobility Vision and Roadmap

Minister Kacır, emphasizing that Türkiye is ready to lead the transformation of the mobility ecosystem with its advanced R&D and innovation ecosystem and strong production infrastructure, stated that they shared the “Mobility Vehicle and Technology Strategies Roadmap” with the public. He said that the roadmap includes socio-economic, demographic and technological changes, the current status of the mobility sector in the world and in Türkiye, and future clues.

Togg and Local Technology Startups

Minister Kacır stated that Togg is the symbol of the new generation mobility vision and proof of the will to transformation, and said that Togg has established collaborations with more than 40 local technology initiatives and will continue to develop the mobility technologies of the future.

Support Programs and Infrastructure Investments

Minister Kacır stated that they support the development of new generation automotive technology solutions with steps such as the Technology-Focused Industrial Move Program and the Mobility Acceleration Program, and explained that they have expanded the use of electric vehicles with infrastructure investments such as the Open Innovation Autonomous Vehicle Development and Test Platform (OPINA) and the Fast Charging Infrastructure Support Program.   

Value Added Production and Investor Interest

Minister Kacır stated that they have put new support programs into effect to bring investments to Türkiye that will direct mobility capabilities to value-added production and strengthen international competitiveness, and said that they support electric vehicle and battery production with the HIT-30 investment program and battery production calls. He explained that Türkiye is an attractive center for investors and that giants such as BYD and Chery have decided to invest in Türkiye.

2030 Goals and Rail Transportation

Minister Kacır, who stated that Türkiye aims to increase the market share of electric and rechargeable hybrid vehicles to over 2030 percent, the localization rate to 35 percent and the production capacity to 75 million by 1, also announced the battery production and autonomous vehicle development targets. He stated that there are also targets for domestic and national high-speed train production in the rail transportation sector.

Shipbuilding Industry and Aviation

Minister Kacır stated that they aim to be one of the leading countries in electric ship exports by ensuring that the shipbuilding industry implements environmentally friendly technologies, and that they plan to transfer the technology development capability in military unmanned aerial vehicles to the civilian field in the aviation sector.

Technology Cluster and Competent Human Resources

Minister Kacır stated that they have a vision to create a mobility technology cluster in the Informatics Valley and explained that they are carrying out projects such as the Sector Campus, 42 Software Schools and the National Technology Academy in order to train the competent human resources needed by the sector.   

Investor Friendly Policies

Minister Kacır stated that Türkiye is ready to host projects that can shape the future of the mobility sector with investor-friendly policies, and said that they will support investors without distinguishing between local and foreign investors and work to transform Türkiye's potential into value.
