A New Face for Trabzon Uzungol

Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç explained in detail the work carried out to increase the satisfaction of visitors to the world-famous tourism center Uzungöl. Making statements during the visit of the TBMM Public Works, Zoning, Transportation and Tourism Commission, Mayor Genç announced that Uzungöl will gain a brand new appearance.

Visitor Satisfaction is the Primary Goal

Mayor Genç emphasized that their top priority is for visitors to Uzungöl to leave happy and satisfied, and said, “We want our visitors to Uzungöl, which is a natural wonder, to feel happy, to carry out their visits with good standards and to leave happy. Therefore, as the mayor, I request everyone and every segment of society who comes into contact with our visitors here to show this sensitivity.” In this context, it is aimed to increase the quality of all services in Uzungöl and to meet the needs of visitors in the best way possible.

Extensive Renovation Work in Final Stage

Stating that the renovation work in Uzungöl has reached its final stage, Mayor Genç said, “We are conducting serious work. We have come to the end of it. Hopefully, we will complete all the work in a month. Our visitors will now see a brand new Uzungöl.” These works, carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Mass Housing Administration (TOKİ), aim to modernize the infrastructure and superstructure of Uzungöl.

Renewed Walkways and Landscaping

Within the scope of the renovation works in Uzungöl, walking axes, landscaping, green areas, seating groups and facilities are being renewed. President Genç said, “Our walking axes, landscaping, green facilities, seating groups and our current facilities are being renewed. Our walking paths are being rearranged,” and stated that visitors will be able to experience the natural beauties of Uzungöl in a more comfortable and enjoyable way.

Tourism Office Provides Service

In order to provide better service to visitors coming to Uzungöl, a tourism office was established in the region. This office, which is staffed by personnel who speak foreign languages, tries to find solutions to all kinds of questions and problems of visitors. Mayor Genç said that last year, more than 1437 applications were made to the tourism office and that they continue to provide the same service this year.

Emphasis on Hospitality

Noting that the number of tourists coming to Trabzon is increasing every year, Mayor Genç said, “Last year, 1 million 346 thousand visitors came to Trabzon. This exceeds two and a half million in Uzungöl. Because we also have local visitors from the region who come to Uzungöl in a significant way. God willing, we will host and bid farewell to our visitors very well. We will fulfill this duty as a city. Contributing to both the city economy and the country economy is one of our priorities. We want everyone and every segment of society to continue these efforts with sensitivity.”

Radical Solution to the Parking Problem

Referring to the parking problem experienced especially in the summer months in Uzungöl, Mayor Genç announced that work is ongoing with TOKİ to build a parking lot at the entrance of Uzungöl. Stating that the study studies are ongoing, Mayor Genç stated that with the implementation of the project, vehicle entrances to Uzungöl will be organized with the ring method and the traffic density in the region will be reduced. Mayor Genç said, “Especially in June and September, there is heavy traffic here. Therefore, we are conducting a study with TOKİ immediately at the entrance of Uzungöl for this. Our study studies are ongoing. Hopefully, if it is found suitable for being a project area, we want to take action and solve the parking lot issue radically. We want to make parking there with the ring method like in Sümela Monastery and make Uzungöl more peaceful.”
