There are important developments in the high-speed train projects that will modernize Kayseri's transportation network. While work continues uninterrupted on the Kayseri-Yerköy High-Speed Train Line, the first diggings have been made on the Ankara-Samsun line. When these two giant projects are completed, there will be another piece of good news for Kayseri, and the Kayseri-Samsun distance, which takes 6-7 hours by road, will be reduced to just 2 hours and 30 minutes with the comfort of the high-speed train.
Kayseri-Yerköy Line to be Completed in 2028
The High Speed Train Project, which will connect Kayseri to Yerköy, is being built as a 142-kilometer double-track, electrified and signaled line suitable for both passenger and freight transportation. While work on the project is progressing rapidly, it is expected to break new ground in regional transportation when completed. With the implementation of the high-speed train line, the current conventional railway travel time between Yerköy and Kayseri, which takes 3 hours, will be reduced to less than 1 hour. The 7-hour railway journey between Ankara and Kayseri will be reduced to 2 hours, while the journey between Istanbul and Kayseri will be shortened to 5 hours and 15 minutes. This will make significant contributions to the regional economy and tourism.
Work Started on Ankara-Samsun Line
Samsun, one of the important metropolises of the Black Sea, is also included in the high-speed train network. In this context, work has officially started on the Kırıkkale-Samsun line. The project was planned to connect the Ankara-Kırıkkale-Kayseri high-speed train line to Samsun via Çorum. Within the scope of the giant project, 7 excavation tunnels, 3 cut-and-cover tunnels, 26 bridges and viaducts, 12 overpasses, 72 underpasses and 185 culverts will be built. The Ankara-Samsun line is also targeted to be completed before 2030.
The Distance Between Kayseri and Samsun Will Be Shortened by Half
When both major projects are completed, transportation between Kayseri and Samsun will be virtually redefined. It is expected that the Kayseri-Yerköy journey will take approximately 40 minutes, Yerköy-Delice 20 minutes and Delice-Samsun 1 hour 30 minutes. With these calculations, the Kayseri-Samsun journey, which is currently approximately 442 kilometers and takes 6-7 hours by road, will be reduced to just 2 hours 30 minutes with the comfort of the high-speed train. This great time saving will change the travel habits of the local people and significantly increase intercity interaction. The high-speed train connection, which will provide great convenience especially for business trips and touristic trips, will accelerate the economic and social development of the region. This fast and comfortable transportation opportunity between Kayseri and Samsun will also strengthen the cultural and commercial ties of the two cities.
