Break Houses Make Life Easier in Ankara

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to make a difference with the human-focused projects it has implemented in line with its vision of a ‘Barrier-Free Capital’. One of these projects, the ‘Special Needs Children’s Respite House’, which operates in Sincan, Kuşcağız and Öveçler, both supports the participation of children with special needs in social life and offers valuable time for families who have to constantly care for their children. Operating with a membership system, Respite Houses constitute an important support mechanism for children between the ages of 3-6 who need special attention and care and their devoted families. Families who want to benefit from this free service can easily apply online at molaevleri.ankara.bel.tr or call ‘(0312) 507 10 01’ to get detailed information.

With Break Houses, Children Socialize and Families Breathe Easy

The ‘Special Needs Children’s Respite Home’ project, implemented by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, makes significant contributions to the development of children with special needs and the quality of life of their families. Providing service in three central locations, namely Sincan, Keçiören (Kuşcağız) and Çankaya (Öveçler), Respite Homes provide special children with a safe, supportive and educational environment, allowing them to socialize. At the same time, a valuable respite opportunity is created for families who have to postpone their daily work or personal needs due to their children’s special needs. By leaving their children safely at Respite Homes, families are able to take care of their own business, rest or spend time on social activities. In this way, both the children receive developmental support and the care burden on the families is reduced.

According to the data of the Department of Disabled and Elderly Services, a total of 684 children with special needs have benefited from the opportunities provided by the Mola Houses to date. “Our Aim is to Make the Lives of Special Individuals and Their Families Easier”

Mehmet Bağdat, Director of the Disabled and Elderly Services Department, Disabled and Rehabilitation Branch, emphasized that as the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, they attach great importance to implementing projects that will make the lives of disabled individuals and their families easier. Providing detailed information about the Respite Homes, Bağdat said, “We continue to produce projects that will make the lives of individuals with special needs and their families easier. In this context, in the respite homes we have implemented, we offer our special children between the ages of 3-6 the opportunity to spend time in a safe, educational and social environment, while also providing their families with the opportunity to take a short breather and take a break. We currently have three respite homes in Keçiören, Sincan and Çankaya actively providing service, and we have provided this valuable service to a total of 684 children to date.” These statements clearly demonstrate that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality will continue to stand by individuals with special needs and their families with its understanding of social municipality.
