May 19 Youth Cup Completed in the Rain

The 19 May Youth Cup Athletics Competitions organized by IMM Sports Istanbul for the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day have been completed. In the competitions that lasted for two days at the IMM Maltepe Kenan Onuk Athletics Track, nearly 300 athletes competed for medals in 21 different categories under heavy rain.

The second of the 19 May Youth Cup Athletics Competitions, which was started to be organized last year by Spor Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), within the scope of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day celebrations, has been completed. Young athletes who participated in the event both experienced the joy of the holiday and competed for medals.

On May 17-18, 14 athletes from 295 clubs, including leading athletics teams such as ENKA, Galatasaray and İBBSK, participated in the competitions held at the international standard İBB Maltepe Kenan Onuk Athletics Track.

THE RANK WILL BE VALID IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA

The competitions, organized in four different age groups consisting of U14, U16, U18 and U20 and in a total of 21 different categories, were held under the supervision of Turkish Athletics Federation (TAF) referees and in accordance with the World Athletics Association (WA) Competition and Technical Rules and TAF Competition Instructions. The rankings obtained in the 19 May Youth Cup Athletics Competitions, which are included in the WA calendar this year, will be valid in all international athletics competitions.

The competitions were held in the following categories in running: 80 m, 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 600 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 80 m hurdles, 100 m/110 m hurdles, 300 m hurdles, 400 m hurdles, 4×100 m relay race, 4×400 m relay race; in jumping: high jump, long jump, pole vault, triple jump; in throwing: shot put, discus throw, javelin throw.

Standing by the young athletes at the 19 May Youth Cup Athletics Competitions, IMM Youth and Sports Services Department Director Dr. Barış Yıldız, IMM Sports Istanbul General Manager İ. Renay Onur and IMM Sports Evaluation Branch Manager İlker Öztürk both started the competitions and presented medals to the athletes who qualified to go up to the podium.

The stars of the future encountered a surprise at the award ceremony of the 19 May Youth Cup Athletics Competitions, where the energy of athletics was reinforced with the joy of the holiday.
