Domestic Production Movement in Rail Systems
Speaking at the summit held in Bilişim Vadisi in Kocaeli’s Gebze district, Minister Kacır emphasized the importance of domestic and national production in Türkiye’s rail transportation systems. Minister Kacır said, “Our country, with its population exceeding 80 million and its vast geography, offers an important window of opportunity for the domestic and national development of the rail transportation system. When we consider the distance we have covered in rail transportation systems in the last 22 years, we have the opportunity to develop, produce and export high-speed trains domestically with our country’s high production capabilities.”
Mass Production Started with Eskişehir-5000 Project
Minister Kacır announced the start of the serial production of the new generation domestic and national electric mainline locomotive within the scope of the Eskişehir-5000 project. He also stated that the production of the national electric train set with a speed of 160 kilometers is continuing. He also stated that significant progress has been made in the design and prototype studies of the national electric high-speed train set with a speed of 225 kilometers.
These developments will make a significant contribution to Türkiye’s goals of reducing its external dependency on rail systems and increasing its domestic production capacity. The mass production of domestic electric locomotives and train sets will both contribute to the country’s economy and accelerate the modernization of rail transportation systems.
