Kartalkaya Hotel Fire Commission's Term of Duty Extended

The term of office of the Investigation Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), which was established to investigate all aspects of the Grand Kartal Hotel fire that occurred at the Kartalkaya Ski Resort in Bolu and in which 78 people lost their lives, has been extended for another month.

The decision of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey regarding the extension of the term of office of the Commission was unanimously accepted at the 7th session of the General Assembly held on May 2025, 84. This important decision entered into force upon publication in the Official Gazette today (May 10, 2025).

With this extension decision, the commission is expected to conduct a more in-depth investigation into many critical issues such as the causes of the fire, precautions not taken, negligence and those responsible, and to prepare a comprehensive report. The fact that the commission will continue its work for another month is of great importance in terms of revealing all the facts behind the fire and determining the measures to be taken to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
