Izmir International Polyphonic Choirs Festival Started

The Izmir International Polyphonic Choirs Festival, organized for the fourth time this year with the cooperation of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the Turkish Polyphonic Choirs Association (TPKD) Izmir Branch, has started at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASSM). The festival, which will be held between May 22-25 with the participation of 75 different choirs, will end with an awards ceremony.

Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center is hosting the 22th Izmir International Polyphonic Choirs Festival with the participation of 25 choirs from Turkey and abroad between May 75-4. Organized in collaboration with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the Izmir Branch of the Turkish Polyphonic Choirs Association, the festival will feature choirs from different age groups that have achieved many successes. The festival, which saw intense participation, will end with an awards ceremony on Sunday, May 25.

Choirs took the stage on the first day of the festival

The first day of the festival, which was organized in sessions, featured the Turkish Polyphonic Choirs Association Izmir Branch Children's Choir, the Güzelbahçe Bahçeşehir Choir, the Mev İz Choir, Karşıyaka High School Cumhuriyet Choir, Ayvalık Sebahat Cihan Şişman Fine Arts High School Choir, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Children's Choir, Arkas Bilsem Children's Choir, Pev Primary School Choir, İzmir Private Tevfik Fikret High School Polyphonic Choir, Alaeddin Yavaşca Fine Arts High School Polyphonic Choir, Aeterna Vox Deu, A Capella Gramophone, İzmir Ümran Baradan Fine Arts High School Polyphonic Choir, Chorus Line, Balçova Municipality Afife Art Polyphonic Choir and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Polyphonic Choir took the stage.

Awards in 14 different musical categories

The choirs participating in the festival will be evaluated by the “Festival Evaluation Board” in 14 different musical branches without competing with each other and will be awarded artistically in the musical branch with the highest score they receive. The awards that will be given as a result of the musical evaluations in alphabetical order will be as follows: 'Achievement Award in Interpreting a Work with Instrumental Accompaniment', 'Achievement Award in Interpreting a Children's Song', 'Achievement Award in Movement, Choreography and Staging', 'Achievement Award in Diction, Articulation, Clarity', 'Achievement Award in Intonation, Homogeneity and Choir Tone', 'Achievement Award in Festival Participation', Achievement Award in Repertoire Selection Appropriate to the Level of the Choir', 'Achievement Award in Musicality-Musical Dynamics', 'Achievement Award in Program Richness and Diversity', Achievement Award in Rhythmic Togetherness-Rhythmic Harmony', 'Achievement Award in Interpreting a Work with Solo', 'Achievement Award in Performing Works Appropriate to Genre and Style Features', 'Achievement Award in Performing Works by Ahmed Adnan Saygun' and 'Achievement Award in Choir-Conductor Harmony in Interpreting Works'.
