Izmir Artificial Intelligence Summit Convened with the Aim of Being a Pioneer in Technology

Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGİAD) and Aegean Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (ESİAD) jointly organized the "Transforming Power" meetings at the Artificial Intelligence Summit started at the İzQ Innovation Center.

İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban, who attended the opening ceremony of the summit attended by the countries of the Aegean business world, as well as the countries that are advancing on the path to digitalization, artificial intelligence and software entrepreneurs, and young people who follow trend technologies, drew attention to one of the threshold points in the history of humanity in Artificial Intelligence technology.

Elban, who stated that he is not one of those who think pessimistically on this issue, pointed out the necessity of being on the side that not only buys this money, but also produces it and directs it.

Noting that Izmir has a demonstrable potential in digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence, Elban stated that they came to use this potential with the aim of making all teachers in Izmir digitally literate from the very beginning.

Elban said:

“All 64 thousand teachers in Izmir became digitally literate, and all 857 thousand educations will be digitally literate in 15 days. We expect a small portion of these, our youth, to lead this technology. You have to create the talented Intelligence with the purchase, and now you have to take action. Izmir can be a leading city in technology. A brand new free zone, while working together with the companies of the technologies, will be operated together with the technopark with immediate support. We are also conducting a study on the game. We are trying to create this ecosystem in this city and make Izmir a leader in technology.”

“Artificial Intelligence Strategy Document is being prepared”

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay said that he is hopeful for young people to become a part of Artificial Intelligence technology as a country.

Elban stated that they started using Artificial Intelligence technologies in urban planning applications and achieved efficient results in transportation, and expressed that Artificial Intelligence was used even in the design of the banks in Kültürpark.

Tugay said that those who use it this way are exhibited more successfully and that one should not be conservative in this regard, and continued as follows:

“In order to adapt our city to this technology as soon as possible and to continue to contribute to development, we need to continue in general. Every success in Izmir, everyone should learn how to use it more this year and include it. There is no point in being conservative about this issue. Will Izmir have a role other than this? For example, how much to invest in data is a subject. We are also preparing a strategy about Intelligence. We will share this globally. We need to know what can happen to us, within a few and according to us.”

 “Rapid motion parameter”

Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGİAD) Chairman of the Board of Directors M. Kaan Özhelvacı stated that with this meeting, instead of Izmir being a city presented in the field of intelligence, they took an important step by the artificial business world, “Another reason why we organized this summit is the necessity of acting quickly in artificial intelligence. There is always more need for business people. The economic and political power of the future will be those who invest in technology today. Therefore, it is of great importance for us, as business people, to look at the course of local successes while managing our businesses and to develop our strategies by understanding global trends.”

Sibel Zorlu, the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association, stated that the point reached in artificial intelligence shows that humanity is at an unprecedented threshold, and that this possible critical point where artificial intelligence will surpass the intelligence of madness promises progress on the one hand, but also shows the uncertainty that control may be lost from the future.

Pointing out that they have to shape it with the ethical values caused by this diversity, Zorlu noted the following:

“We are organizing the Artificial Intelligence Summit with this understanding. The opportunity to build this use not only with engineers but also with lawyers, sociologists, artists. We are ready to take every step that falls on us for Izmir to become one of the cities in the field of intelligence. I want to start high-speed data installation at the beginning to work together. We want to pay attention to the importance of collaborations in an age of intelligence that includes start-ups, SMEs, OIZs, industry and universities. We describe our summit not only as a business-oriented information sharing but also as a cycle of creating a vision and ecosystem in Izmir and our region.”

“Should regulations shine or should they flourish?”

Making evaluations about the point reached in the technological transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence at the summit, Next Academy Levent Erden said that the change is no longer technological, but has become flexible and mental, and that Artificial Intelligence enables humanity to access information.

Erden said, “We have increased our resistance to the speed of change, not to time. It is not possible to survive in this new period with old technology structures and capabilities. Data-centered, interdisciplinary and rapidly adaptable structures can be obtained. 'Should regulations shine or should they develop?' We want to question this. The future will be a period shaped by people, in need of people's multiplicity and acquired intelligence. This is the success of our institutions and businesses.”

At the summit, where good practice examples in the field of Artificial Intelligence and the stories of start-up entrepreneurs will be discussed, sessions will also be held in Izmir with Artificial Intelligence ecosystem storage options.
