Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) will remove the diseased trees detected on the Beykoz Kavacık Intersection in order to protect other healthy trees and the environment in the area. As a result of the examinations, a deadly and contagious disease called 'Citrus long-antennaed bug' was found in 47 Maples.
Action was taken upon this situation, which was detected through joint efforts of the IMM Parks and Gardens Department and the Istanbul Provincial and Beykoz District Agriculture and Forestry Directorates. It was decided to remove the trees infected with the invasive species 'Citrus long-antennaed beetle' (Anoplophora spp.) from the area in order to prevent it from spreading to other trees in the area and the environment.
The aim is to completely clear the area infested with harmful insects within 1 year. After this process is completed, reforestation work will be carried out by planting different types of trees that are not hosts of the 'Citrus long-antennaed beetle'. This sensitivity of the IMM is considered as part of the efforts to protect Istanbul's green texture and ensure environmental health.
