Students who graduated from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s (IMM) IMM Technology Workshops, which bring together young people who are interested in technology, and continue their advanced production-focused education, continue to add new successes to their successes in the prestigious competitions they participate in. Having competed in a total of 22 different competitions at national and international levels to date, IMMTech students recently became the pride of IMM by winning first place, third place and the jury’s special award in different categories at the Istanbul Technical University Robot Olympics (ITURO).
IBBTech Students Also Appear in the International Arena
The IBBTech Technology Team, formed by talented students within the IBB Technology Workshops, receives advanced robotics and software training with expert instructors in the field. In addition to this comprehensive training, team students actively participate in national and international robot competitions in order to put what they have learned into practice and gain experience in a competitive environment. The young people, who have previously experienced international competitions in countries such as Estonia and Romania with the robots they have devotedly developed in their workshops, are also successfully representing IBB in important organizations in Türkiye.
They Returned with Three Awards from ITURO
Having won a total of 22 awards in different degrees in 25 competitions since its establishment, the İBBTech team last competed fiercely in İTÜRO organized by Istanbul Technical University between May 5-7, 2025. In this prestigious organization held in various categories such as search and rescue, stamp collection, traffic, mini sumo, algolab and innovation, İBBTech students competed against a total of 137 ambitious teams.
In the Olympics, where great excitement and competition were experienced, İBBTech competed with a total of 4 robots in 7 different categories. Thanks to their superior performance and creative solutions, İBBTech students won two important awards, first and third place in the search and rescue category, and were deemed worthy of the jury's special award in the traffic category. This success once again demonstrated the quality of education at İBB Technology Workshops and the students' talents.
8 Months of Comprehensive and Qualified Training
Bringing together young people interested in technology with a total of 10 different workshops on the European and Anatolian sides, IMM Technology Workshops provide students with important skills required by the age. The workshops provide training in a wide range of subjects such as programming/coding, mobile application development, artificial intelligence, robotic coding, game development, computer-free computer science and graphic design. These workshops, which are specially created for 4th-5th grade, 6th-7th grade and 9th-10th grade students, are accepted to these workshops with a rigorous admission exam. Young people who pass the exam participate in a comprehensive 8-month training program with expert trainers in their fields. At the end of the training, students present their original projects to an experienced jury consisting of Boğaziçi University academics. Students who are successful among the submitted projects are selected to the IMM Tech Technology Team and have the opportunity to represent IMM in both national and international robot competitions. This system plays an important role in discovering and supporting young talents.
