Mafia: The Old Country First Gameplay Footage and Release Date Announcement!

Take-Two's highly anticipated new game, Mafia: The Old Country, has finally revealed its face with the first gameplay trailer released at PAX East. The trailer focuses on the rise of the main character Enzo in the mafia world, and the release date, which was previously on the agenda with Steam leaks, has also been officially confirmed: The game will meet players on August 8, 2025.

A Cinematic Journey to 1900s Italy

The newly released gameplay trailer transports players to the impressive atmosphere of Italy in the early 1900s. The gameplay scenes, presented with Enzo's gripping story, show that developer Hangar 13 has a similar structure to previous Mafia games. However, the emphasis on close combat and stealth mechanics in particular stands out as a significant innovation that sets it apart from previous games in the series. Enzo's silent elimination of enemies with his knife and the intensity of cinematic transitions in close-quarters combat are clear signs of this change.

Varied Gameplay Mechanics

Along with classic gunfights, the trailer also features a variety of gameplay moments, including the character exploring mysterious caves, traveling through picturesque countryside on horseback, and driving around in period automobiles. These elements suggest that the game may not have a completely linear structure, and that at least in some sections, players may be given the freedom to explore the environment.

Refined Stealth and Melee Combat

Although the stealth mechanics are particularly reminiscent of Mafia 3, this time we are faced with a much more refined system that offers players a variety of tactical approaches. Players will be able to advance not only with firepower, but also by using environmental factors and opportunities intelligently. The frequent use of knives throughout the trailer brings an exciting new breath to the series' usual weapon-focused structure.

This first gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, which has been silent for a long time, has managed to create great anticipation with both its impressive visual quality and innovative gameplay mechanics. Although not as popular as Rockstar's massive production GTA 6, Mafia: The Old Country has already made its name among the most talked about and eagerly awaited games of the summer of 2025.
