Environmental Goals from TAV Airports

TAV Airports Chief Executive Officer Captain Serkan“Ankara Esenboğa became the first carbon neutral airport in Türkiye in 2014. Now, we are happy to receive the Level 4+ certificate for the first time in Türkiye in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. As of today, four airports in our portfolio are carbon neutral, and a total of 11 airports are included in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program. We are gradually approaching our net zero target with our investments in renewable energy use and energy efficiency. Carbon Management in Line with Global Climate Goals

ACI EUROPE Director General Olivier Jankovec, stated that they are proud that Ankara Esenboğa Airport is leading Turkish aviation towards the net zero target. Jankovec said, “The airport’s achievement of Level 4+ certification in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program represents the most advanced level of carbon management in Turkish aviation. This significant achievement is the result of the airport’s strong and determined commitment to climate action that began with its participation in the program in 2010. With ongoing CO₂ reduction, robust emission targets aligned with global climate goals and a long-term carbon management plan, this new milestone demonstrates both a strong will and sustainable efforts towards decarbonization. We sincerely congratulate the entire team working towards the goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.”

At Ankara Esenboğa Airport, emission reduction targets were aligned with global climate targets and a long-term carbon management plan was created. The remaining emissions were balanced with internationally recognized projects. In addition, all employees were given regular training on the environment, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction.
