Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has undertaken an important project to meet the water needs in rural areas and to prevent water cuts. The production of 30-ton fiberglass water tanks that are unaffected by weather conditions and external factors, long-lasting and easily repairable has been accelerated.
These fiberglass water tanks, produced at ORKOM facilities, a subsidiary company founded under the leadership of Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler, offer a more economical solution by up to 40% compared to the cost of reinforced concrete tanks. 30 of these tanks, produced by ORKOM so far, have been placed by Ordu Water and Sewerage Administration (OSKİ) primarily in rural neighborhoods where they are needed.
Superior Resistance to Weather Conditions and Impacts
Fiberglass water tanks manufactured from polyester, gelcoat and fiber using a glass fiber winding machine at ORKOM facilities have a water storage capacity of 3 tons with a diameter of 4 meters and a height of 30 meters. These tanks, which are highly resistant to adverse weather conditions and impacts, stand out with their long-lasting structure. In addition, the fact that they are easy to repair in the event of any damage provides a significant advantage. When considered in terms of cost, two fiberglass water tanks can be produced with the budget spent on the construction of a reinforced concrete tank.
Water Outages to be Prevented in Rural Neighborhoods
The fiberglass water tanks produced by Ordu Metropolitan Municipality were initially placed by OSKİ in rural areas where they were urgently needed. These tanks, which are both more economical and more durable, are planned to be expanded in line with the demands in rural neighborhoods. This work aims to prevent water cuts caused by water tanks, especially in the summer months.
