
The Bursa International Sports Festival, hosted by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, continues to bring sports fans together with exciting events. The 'Urban Downhill' race, which was held within this scope and is Türkiye's first extreme cycling race, provided adrenaline-filled, unforgettable moments for the audience.
Fighting Against Time on Historical Streets
Organized under the leadership of Bursa Governorship and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, with the cooperation of Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate, Provincial Directorate of National Education, Bursa City Council and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, the festival features events in different sports branches in 17 districts. One of the most striking organizations of the festival, the Urban Downhill race, brought together the historical texture and challenging geography of Bursa. The race, which started from Mollafenari Neighborhood, was held on a highly technical and challenging course that ended at the Historical Pınarbaşı Park.
Excitement at its Peak in Narrow Streets, Steep Stairs and Sharp Curves
In their relentless struggle against time, the competitors managed to descend the narrow passages, steep stairs and sharp bends of Bursa's historical streets without slowing down. In this extreme sport, where bicycle control, technical skill and courage are at the forefront, the athletes' skillful descents from the stairs and their maneuvers on the bends gave the watching Bursa residents adrenaline-filled moments that they watched with bated breath. The cyclists, who wrote history in the historical atmosphere of Bursa throughout the day, received great applause from the people of Bursa at the end of the competition.
Fight for the Top in Elite and Master Categories
At the end of the challenging and exciting competition, there was a fierce competition in the elite category. In this category, Peter Bethell won first place, Emir Melik Peker came in second and Ege Ürer came in third. In the master category, Fehmi Gürkan came in first, Adam Lee came in second and Sinan Demir came in third. The athletes who won were appreciated for their superior performance and courage. This first extreme cycling race held in the historical streets of Bursa was an unforgettable experience for both athletes and spectators and once again demonstrated the potential of Bursa for sports tourism.
